Selected Bibliography of Works on:

The Arab-Palestinian Community in Israel: 1990-2012

Dr. Mohanad Mustafa and Dr. Yousef T. Jabareen

Dirasat aims to promote scholarship about the Arab-Palestinian community in Israel.  This book is the first of two planned publications which will outline findings from a comprehensive mapping of scholarship on the Arab-Palestinian community.  As a clearinghouse for literature, research and knowledge which has accrued over the years, this publication includes primary research and academic literature about Palestinian citizens in Israel in three languages (Arabic, Hebrew and English) generated between the years 1990-2010.

Divided into six chapters, this first publication includes chapters on the following topics: general information on the Arab-Palestinian community; the community’s legal status; Arab education; higher education among the Arab Society; Arab local government and the future vision documents.  These are some of the most prolific, central and frequently studied topics related to the Arab community.  The bibliography includes books, academic articles and doctoral theses at Israeli universities.  As such, this publication will serve as an indispensable resource to those seeking to facilitate knowledge about the Arab-Palestinian community in Israel.

The second phase of this project, to be released in the near future, will focus on the following topics in relation to the Arab community: political parties and political movements; Jewish-Arab mixed cities and the Naqab; building, planning and land issues; the Arab media; socio-economic issues; the Arab-Druze community; Palestinians in Israel and their connection to the Palestinian diaspora; Arab civil society; Arab-Jewish relations, and the status of Arab women.
